Step 1: How Do I Become A GMC Student?

*The following requirements apply to all commuter, transfer, and transient students

The admission policy of Georgia Military College is to accept those applicants who provide evidence of a reasonable potential for success in the educational program of the college. A potential student is considered for admission without regard to race, creed, religion, age, gender, marital status, disability, or national origin.

The GMC Placement Exam is administered to all entering/first time freshmen except those scoring a minimum of 450 on the verbal SAT, 450 on the critical reading SAT and 450 on the math SAT or an 18 or higher English, Reading and 18 or higher Math on the ACT. Students identified on placement tests as needing additional assistance will be required to take certain developmental courses.

Georgia Military College reserves the right to review the academic records of any student to determine the applicant's eligibility.

 

 

 

 

First-time Freshmen - Students who have never attended a college must furnish GMC the following:
  • A completed application with the non-refundable application fee of $35.00.
  • An official copy of the high school transcript showing date of graduation or official copy of equivalency certificate based upon General Educational Development (GED) scores.
  • Home-schooled student applicants must submit a combined SAT score of 920 (Critical Reading and Math portions only) or ACT composite score of 19 in addition to a transcript reflecting the course work completed, an abbreviated bibliography of textbooks and/or assigned readings and a writing sample.

Transfer Students - Students who have attended any other college must furnish GMC the following:

  • A completed application with the non-refundable application fee of $35.00.
  • An official transcript sent from each and every college, technical school, or university previously attended. Students must be eligible to return immediately to the last institution attended.
  • Official documents from military service schools such as College Level Examination Program (CLEP) examinations and USAFI/DANTES (Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support) examinations.
  • Transfer students who have not completed ENG 101 and/or MAT 109 at their previous institutions will also be required to take the GMC Placement Exam.

Transient Students - Students attending another college but enrolled in one or more courses must furnish GMC the following:

  • A completed application with non-refundable application fee of $35.00.
  • A transient letter sent directly from the Registrar's Office of the parent institution or copy of Serviceman's Opportunity College (SOC) agreement from parent institution and, for veterans only, proof of enrollment certification from parent college.

Joint EnrollmentEarly Admissions Students must meet the following requirements:

  • A minimum combined Critical Reading and Math SAT score of 970 or a composite ACT score of 21.
  • A minimum cumulative high school GPA of 3.00 or higher on a 4.0 scale in courses taken from the required 16 CPA (College Preparatory Curriculum) units.
  • Written approval/recommendation of the high school principal or counselor.
  • Written consent of the parent(s)/guardian(s).
  • Exemption of all learning support requirements. (Minimum SAT Critical Reading Score of 450, SAT Math score of 450 or ACT English score of 18, ACT Math score of 18).
